You find him always high. On melody, on rap and on creativity.
His constant hyper mood is
infectious, so much so that you become allergic to his absence.
He truly lives up to his popular refrain “Turn Up” as
he turns up the mood of the strictest melancholic.
There is not a pinch of
dullness or pensiveness whenever you come into contact with Pius Kudamo, a final
year Public Relations student of Ghana Institute of Journalism.
Aside the antiphons during liturgy at Our Lady Of Seven
Sorrows Catholic church back home in Navrongo, fourteen year old Pius was
intrigued by the poetic prowess of hymnodists and this spurred him on to write
his first rap verse taken from psalm one.
He believes his study of literature at Bolgatanga
Senior high school birthed the wordsmith in him. It was there he began to
understand the art and science of words and probably where he nurtured his ‘guy-guy’
mannerisms because meeting the 22 year old for the first time gives you the
impression of an American ‘Bolga’.
There is no denying that music is a form of
communication and interestingly, the upcoming crooner believes that to be an
artiste with pedigree, obtaining a degree is of importance and has therefore
joined the league of musicians taking that path.
According to him, the challenges in the music industry
are numerous and for an emerging artiste, they can be crippling.
And although music is his first love, Pius is of the
view that PR is the bedrock on which he will stand if the music cheats on him,
a plain indication that the nerd has fully equipped himself for the
professional world as well.
At the moment, he is lyrically salivating and is
waiting to spew it in a track with top musicians like Manifest, and Sarkodie.
B ut until then, it is Pius Kudamo and his Public Relations.
